Ranchi, Aug 30: A 10-member probe team headed by CID DSP Sandeep Kumar Gupta on Tuesday arrived at the residence of the Ankita Singh who died after being set ablaze by a man in Dumka.
The team includes members from CID, Forensic Science Laboratory and the Finger Print bureau.
“We are collecting evidence from the site which will be later presented before the court. We received an order to come here yesterday,” said CID DSP Sandeep Kumar Gupta.
“10- member SIT constituted for investigation; evidence being collected by the forensics team. The case will be supervised by the Superintendent of Police. This a serious case,” said SP Mandal, DIG Dumka.

Notably, the incident happened on August 23 in Dumka town when the suspect doused the woman in petrol from outside the window of her bedroom while she was asleep, setting her ablaze.
The victim, a 12th-grade student, was initially brought into Dumka’s Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital in critical condition with 90% burns. Later, she was advised to seek better care at Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS).
