Dumka: In a bizarre incident on Saturday, Dumka police took a gunshot victim directly to the postmortem house instead of taking him to a hospital. Dilip Kumar Sah (39) was allegedly shot in his chest at his in-law’s home situated in Sahara Chowk along the Dumka-Deoghar road under Taljhari police station.
Sah, according to his family members, was shot by unidentified miscreants at around 1 AM when he was sleeping in a room along with his wife.
Family sources said Sah, who is survived by his wife and five children including three daughters and two sons, belongs to Rajaun police station area of Banka district of Bihar and lived in his in-law’s home right after his marriage which was solemnized twenty years ago.
“My father worked in Delhi as a contractor for colouring buildings and had arrived three-four days ago,” Anurag, the nine-year old son of the deceased told the reporters.
He added that three motorcycle-borne assailants were witnessed escaping after committing the crime.
Meanwhile, mystery shrouds the incident with police being clueless as to how the assailants could venture into the room where the gunshot victim was sleeping with his wife.
Further, police have not recovered the blank cartridge of the bullet from the spot either.
“Police patrolling party rushed to the house after hearing the crying of deceased’s wife and children at around 1AM last night and found his body lying on the bed,” the officer-in-charge of Taljhari police station said.
“For the gunshot victim had already succumbed to his injury he was taken to the postmortem house directly than to taking the corpse to the hospital,” The OC stated adding that investigation was on to identify the accused persons and the postmortem report was being awaited to ascertain the time of his death and other aspects.
