Dumka, Nov.20: Coronavirus has started knocking on the doors of Dumka again as ten new positive cases were reported following the RT-PCR tests of 100 samples sent by the district health department to the Ranchi-based testing center at RIMS.

Nine of the ten reports comprise the group of SSB jawans who were recently transferred to the rebel hit Narganjo (Kathikund) based camp of the central armed force from the neighbouring state Bengal which has still been struggling to get rid of the pandemic.

A nine-year-old girl child belonging to Hathnanga village under Jarmundi block of the district is the 10th reported case of Covid-19 here.

“Ten out of total of 100 samples including the nine SSB jawans having joined the Narganjo based camp were sent to the RIMS on November 15. They have been detected positive in the report which arrived late evening on Friday,” the Civil Surgeon of Dumka, Bachha Prasad Singh, said, adding that the health department had initiated tracing of all the inflicted persons to ensure their testing at the earliest.

The CS further said that all the nine SSB jawans that were reported inflicted were asymptomatic.

“Arrangements are being made to shift all the infected SSB jawans to the Covid care ward at Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PJMCH) here for observation and treatment if so required,” the CS stated adding that the nine years old girl child had mild symptoms of the virus and is given proper treatment and care.
