Maoists blow up railway tracks in Latehar

Daltonganj, Nov. 20: CPI Maoists blew up about four meters of the Up and Down railway lines near pole number 206/28 between Demu and Richughutta railway stations under the Dhanbad railway division of the East Central railways in Latehar. The incident happened on the intervening night of Friday /Saturday.

 

One diesel light engine, which was on the track patrol, got derailed in this blow-up.

 

All railway traffic on the Up and the Down lines were blocked since 00.50 hrs following the blasting. No loss of life was reported.

 

Railway gang men and officials are replacing and repairing the blown up track.

 

Station superintendent of the Daltonganj railway station, A K Tiwary informed that the Jammu Tawi – Sambalpur express train and Sasaram-Ranchi train have been diverted through Gaya. Two passenger trains namely Dehri On Sone -Barwadih and Barwadih – Gomoh have been cancelled for the day today.

 

Maoists have called for a bandh in 4 states in protest today, against the arrest of their political bureau member Prashant Bose, his wife and others besides heavy neutralization by the security forces in Maharashtra recently.
