Ranchi, Aug 31: Two member fact-finding committee of National Commission for Women met the family of Ankita Singh on Wednesday in Dumka.
Earlier Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women on Monday directed Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha for action taken reports regarding brutal murder of Ankita in Dumka.
“As soon as we got the news we took suo moto action and took up the matter with DGP. Our observations will be submitted in a report to NCW Chairperson who will convey further step in the matter. We cannot reveal anything now,” said Shalini Singh, Legal Counsellor, NCW to ANI.
“People are circulating photos of victim on social media. Please ensure this is stopped, vital information is not misused and a woman’s dignity is protected,” she added.

The Chairperson of National Commission for Protection of Child Right (NCPCR), Priyank Kanoongo is also arriving Jharkhand on September 5 on two-day programme to take stock of the status of the death case of Ankita Singh.
Earlier in the day, Jharkhand Child Welfare Committee has acknowledged that the victim of Dumka murder case was 15 years of age and not 19, as had been previously reported. A charge under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offenses (Pocso) Act has also been requested by the panel.
