Ranchi, March 15: The daughter of an army personnel posted in Himachal Pradesh, Simran Kumari, on her way to take her CBSE matriculation examination from her residence at Getalhatu died after a dumper crushed her on Wednesday.
The incident took place around 9.30 am when the girl, a student of Army School, riding a Scooty with her maternal grandfather was close to her examination centre at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dipatoli. Her maternal grandfather sustained injuries in the incident but is out of danger.
Officer-in-charge of Khelgaon police station, Manoj Kumar, confirmed the incident and said, “The dumper hit the Scooty coming from back.” He said the spot is in front of Gymkhana Club from where a road enters the cantonment area where the school is located.
A local resident said that the dumper was speeding when the Scooty was taking a turn. “After the accident prima facie, it was realized that the dumper driver was at fault and people assaulted him. The driver was later admitted to RIMS for treatment.”
Asked about his condition, OC Kumar said, “The driver is out of danger and undergoing treatment at RIMS.”
