Dhanbad, May 27: After launching the floating solar project, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is now going to set up a mountain solar power plant and pump water solar project of 8800 MW in Jharkhand.
DVC Maithon based senior official said that as per the project, 600 MW Mountain Solar Power Plant would be set up at Panchet Dam of Dhanbad while 2800 MW Pump Water Solar project on Lungu Pahari in Gomia of Bokaro district.
DVC at its recent Board meeting endorsed the project for setting up the Mountain Solar Power Plant project in Panchet of Jharkhand and a tender would be issued soon in this regard to kickstart the project. Official sources said earlier when the management had issued a tender for this ambitious project but no company showed interest. Now, management has decided to issue a second tender after getting a clearance from the Board.
“Since Panchet Dam has a wide area of mountain in its jurisdiction, Mountain Solar Power Plant project would b successful venture,” said PP Saha, senior public relation officer of DVC Maithon Project.
Besides Panchet, DVC has also selected Jharkhand for launching another ambitious project of Pump Water Solar plant on Lungu Pahadi in Gomia block of Bokaro district. Under the project, water would be stored on the mountain through a pump to generate power, according to a senior official of DVC Gomia. The official said since water would be recycling, the water level of the dam would be maintained.
DVC senior official said this new project would be environment-friendly and there would be no problem of displacement as it could be set up even on a small mountain.
In wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of 62,815 MW renewable energy generation, DVC has started focusing on the Floating Solar plants on its dams, Mountain Solar Plant and Pump Water Solar project after its thermal and hydel power plant.
