New Delhi, Oct.19: The Chinese Army’s border patrolling and annual training exercises have both increased slightly, according to Eastern Army Commander Lt. General Manoj Pande.

“China is conducting integrated joint operation drills. They’re bringing together different parts of their military. “There has been an increase in scale this year, and they have continued for a longer period of time,” he added.

“There has been a minor increase of PLA patrols in some places, but there has been no discernible change in patrolling patterns,” he continued. The annual training in exercises in deep areas has increased slightly. Reserved formations are still stationed in training zones.”

“The last year and a half has been a source of anxiety for us. The Eastern Army Commander stated, “The Eastern Command improved the preparedness levels and capability to respond to any contingency.”

While Chinese activity has increased, the Commander added that both sides are seeking to expand infrastructure closer to the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which can cause friction at times.

“We’ve beefed up our surveillance in both LAC and depth zones.” We have enough personnel in each sector to cope with any emergency that arises. The Army Commander stated, “The patrolling pattern has not altered considerably, but there is a minor increase in some places.”

The Indian Army has also received surveillance drones, improved surveillance radars, communication systems, and improved night vision capability, according to the official. “Introduction of technology has remained one of our core areas, and we’ve taken a number of strides in that direction,” Lt Gen Pande added.
