Ranchi: The Election Commission is set to remove five Jharkhand-based political parties from its list of registered parties after they failed to contest any Lok Sabha or Assembly elections in the past six years.
Parties Facing Deregistration
The parties include Aapka Hamara Party (Hazaribagh), Bahujan Sadan Morcha (Giridih), Jharkhand Dishom Party (East Singhbhum), Hum Kisan Party (Ranchi), and Jharkhand Janadhikar Party. As per EC rules, if a party does not participate in elections for six consecutive years, its registration can be cancelled. Additionally, parties are required to promptly inform the commission of any changes in their name, address, or office bearers.
Notice and Hearing Schedule
These five parties have been given until August 22, 2025, to submit an affidavit and a written reply. A hearing will be held on August 29, 2025, at 11 am in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand. Notices have been sent to each party’s registered address, warning that failure to respond will result in removal from the registered list.
