Ramgarh, Dec.11: The East Central Railway earned a total initial income of Rs.14184.38 crores with a significant increase in the income from all other sources including passenger traffic, freight, in the first 8 months of the current financial year 2021-22 (April to November, 2021). The initial income received up to November of last year is 48.77% higher as compared to Rs.9,534.19 crores.
An income of Rs.1,620.11 crores has been received from passenger traffic till November of the current financial year. This income is almost double as compared to the income received till November of the previous year. Whereas in November, 2021 alone, Rs. 224.05 crores was received from passenger traffic, which is 87.44% higher as compared to Rs. 119.53 crore in the same period last year i.e. November, 2020.
Encouraging growth has been registered in the freight sector. In this sequence, 104.56 million tonnes of goods were loaded by East Central Railway till November of the year 2021-22, which is 20.52% more than the freight loading of 86.76 million tonnes in the corresponding period of last financial year. Rs. 12,316.20 crores were received from this freight by East Central Railway, an increase of 39.25% over the previous year.
“In the same sequence, an increase of 126% was also registered in the income received from other coaching and it stood at Rs 150.73 crore as compared to Rs 66.57 crore from other coaching till the month of November of the last financial year,” said Rajesh Kumar, chief public relations officer of EC railway.
