Dhanbad, March 11: East Central Railway (ECR) Hajipur zone general manager (GM) Anup Sharma on Saturday morning inspected the Dhanbad Railway station and directed the divisional officials to implement the development project of the model station.
Sharma after reaching Dhanbad along with new Dhanbad Division Rail Manager (DRM) Kamal Kishore Sinha and outgoing DRM Ashish Bansal inspected ongoing different development projects of the station, including south side expansion, proposed Gaya Rail Bridge underpass, railway colony and directed them to complete the project for beautification and improvement in passengers facilities.
The Railway Board has nominated 15 railway stations of the Dhanbad Rail Division of ECR under the Amrit Bharat Railway Stations Scheme for developing them as model railway stations. There are 155 different grade railways stations under the Dhanbad rail Division in which 15 of them including Garhwa Road Daltonganj, Koderma, Gomoh, Parasnath, Latehar, Paharpur, Katrasgarh, Hazaribagh Road, Chopan, Renukut, Nagar Untari, Garhwa, Town, Chandrapura have been selected for development.
A total of 57 railway stations in Jharkhand fall under different railway zones have been selected under this ambitious scheme at the cost of Rs 444 crores.
A senior railway official of ECR said that under the Amrit Bharat Railway Stations Scheme, waiting for halls, cafeteria/retail facilities, high-level platforms and other high-level facilities for passengers would be restored.
While inspecting the railway colony near Dhanbad railway station, the ECR general manager asked the divisional officials to demolish dangerously dilapidated quarters and kick start the project work of the Amrit Bharat Railway Stations Scheme. He also held a closed door review meeting with senior officials of the Dhanbad Rail Division.
The ECR senior official said that besides Dhanbad, the GM would also inspect other railway stations of the division.
