New Delhi, Dec 2: A senior Chhattisgarh official was detained by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a coal extortion case. Soumya Chaurasia, who holds the position of Deputy Secretary under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, has been identified as the official.
Before the searches by the ED, the Income Tax Department raided properties connected to the arrested government official because she was on the radar of central agencies in a case involving illegal mining. She was taken into custody after the ED called her in for questioning.
According to sources, Soumya was questioned by central investigation authorities multiple times over the previous two months.
