Ranchi, April 24: The ED, which started questioning Jharkhand cadre IAS officer Chhavi Ranjan at around 11 am, is yet to complete the exercise to find the latter’s role in the army land scam. Ranjan was posted as deputy commissioner in Ranchi when a large chunk of Army and government lands were transferred by creating fake papers.
An ED official said that the bureaucrat, who is presently posted as state social welfare director, is being questioned in the presence of six whom the probe agency arrested for selling army land in Ranchi after manipulating documents.
Apart from this, an effort is also to know how much money he got from the crime and where he has kept the amount and how.
The IAS turned up before the central probe agency after he was summoned for the third time since April 17. Earlier he attempted to evade questioning on the ground that he was on paternity leave and out of the station.
