Ranchi, May 16: The Special PMLA Court of Prabhat Kumar Sharma on Monday extended the police remand of IAS Pooja Singhal and her Chartered accountant Suman Singh for another four days.

Their remand period expired on Monday after which they were produced before the court. The ED secured the police remand of Suman Singh for the third consecutive term whereas, in the case of Pooja Singhal, it is for the second time that the agency got her police remand extended.

The ED wants to question Pooja Singhal and Suman Singh in presence of the district mining officers (DMOs) of Pakur, Sahibganj and Dumka.

In this way, Suman Singh will have a total of 13 days in police remand whereas Pooja Singhal is going to face remand for nine days. Earlier, the ED had sought nine days remand of Pooja Singhal and five days for Suman Singh.

They were arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the charge of money laundering. In the remand petition, the ED said that their further remand is required as much vital evidence has surfaced which needs verification and cross-questioning.  The ED is said to have told the court that money laundering was done through illegal mining and she was the secretary of the mining department as well as managing director of the JSMSC.
