New Delhi, July 27: Congress accused the Centre of spreading ‘ED fear’ across the nation and ‘weaponizing’ the Prevention of Money Laundering Act as Sonia Gandhi returned to the Enforcement Directorate for questioning.
“The ED is creating drama in the country. First, they summoned Rahul Gandhi. He was interrogated for several hours in five days. Sonia Gandhi has been summoned for the third time today. We have no idea how long it would last. The ED has created terror. There should be a timely SC decision on the terror of ED in the country,” Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Ghulam Nabi Azad, Jairam Ramesh, and Anand Sharma, Gehlot added that despite having a success rate of less than 5%, ED has grown stronger than the CBI.
It is important to note that Gehlot spoke at the news conference alongside G-23 leaders Anand Sharma and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
According to Gehlot, the government is abusing the agency to overthrow elected governments, as we recently witnessed in Maharashtra.
“The ED is being used to collapse governments as you saw in Maharashtra but ED can’t set the cabinet which is evident from the situation in Maharashtra. You can see where democracy is going,” Gehlot added.
