Mumbai, July 31: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Sunday detained Sanjay Raut in the Patra Chawl case. Raut is anticipated to depart for the ED office.
In conjunction with a money laundering investigation, the ED searched Sanjay Raut’s Mumbai home earlier in the day. The ED was looking into Raut in relation to a money laundering case involving suspected irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai “chawl,” among other things. The last of two summonses against Raut that the ED issued on July 27 led to the current course of action.
The investigation agency had already summoned Raut on July 20, which he ignored and advised them through counsel that he could only appear after August 7 because of the ongoing Parliamentary session.
On July 1, he made a statement that was once recorded. In the case, the ED had attached Raut’s properties in Dadar and Alibag. In the struggle to dominate Shiv Sena that followed Eknath Shinde’s uprising that toppled the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, Raut came out in support of the Thackerays.
