Ranchi, July 14: Dahu Yadav, a key associate of Pankaj Mishra, is being questioned by the officials of the Enforcement Directorate at the Ranchi office in connection with the money laundering probe.
Dahu Yadav was away from Sahibganj and he was at Kamakhya in Assam right before the ED carried out raids against Pankaj Mishra, Dahu Yadav, and others in Sahibganj on July 8. For all those whose premises were raided; the ED served them notice and asked them to record their statement.
Dahu Yadav returned to Sahibganj only a day back and he is said to have reached Ranchi to appear before the ED. Sources said that he is being questioned right from the morning. He is accompanied by his friend Bacchu Yadav. But Bacchu Yadav will be questioned on July 18.
The ED is examining his role in the funding of Rs 8.52 crore to ‘Sahibganl Nav Yatayat Sahyog Samiti Limited’ (SNYSSL) to get the contract for the ferry service on river Ganga. SNYSSL came into the limelight following a cargo ship accident in the river Ganga on the night of March 24. It is said that it is Dahu Yadav who operates SNYSSL. Stone chips are illegally smuggled to Bihar through ferry services which are under the scanner of the ED. Besides, his role in illegal mining is under the scanner.
Dahu Yadav has a criminal background and Padmavati Oraian had alleged him and Pankaj Mishra for murdering her daughter Rupa Tirkey who was posted at Mahila Thana in Sahibganj. In 2011 he was arrested under the Jharkhand Control of Crime Acts 2002 and he was also expelled from the district limit. He was accused of grabbing land and housing properties of different people.
