Mumbai, Oct 4: In connection with a case involving online betting, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor on October 6.
According to sources within the Enforcement Directorate, Ranbir Kapoor promoted a subsidiary app that is also endorsed by the promoters of the Mahadev Book app. The actor reportedly received cash payments for his promotional activities.
The ED and police departments of different states are looking into the online betting platform Mahadev Book app.
Digital evidence acquired by the Enforcement Directorate shows that Rs 112 crore was sent via hawala to an event management company, while cash payments totalling Rs 42 crore were made for hotel bookings, sources said last month.
In connection with the Mahadev online betting case, the investigation agency is currently looking into the involvement of various Bollywood actors and singers.
The Enforcement Directorate is also investigating their presence at the wedding and celebratory event of Mahadev app promoter, Sourabh Chandrakar, in the United Arab Emirates in February of this year.
In addition to Ranbir Kapoor, at least 15 to 20 more celebrities are being investigated by the ED. The list includes figures like Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Ali Azgar, Vishal Dadlani, Tiger Shroff, Neha Kakkar, Elli Avram, Bharti Singh, Sunny Leone, Bhagyashree, Pulkit, Kirti Khabanda, Nushrat Bharucha, and Krishna Abhishek.
