Ranchi, May 7: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing the land scam case under money laundering. The ED will interrogate accused Rajesh Rai, Lakhan Singh, Bharat Prasad and Vishnu Aggarwal on Monday while sitting them in front of suspended IAS Chhavi Ranjan in this case, so that no one can dismiss the allegations against him.
On the other hand, Dilip Ghosh, the owner of Jagatbandhu Tea Estate, who bought the army-occupied land from Pradeep Bagchi, has also been summoned by the ED for questioning on May 10. Pradeep Bagchi had sold this land to Dilip Ghosh for just seven crores by taking a fake holding number from Ranchi Municipal Corporation.
Ranchi’s former DC Chhavi Ranjan, who was behind bars, hatched a conspiracy to buy and sell land of account number 140 with an area of about 7.16 acres. Fake documents were used for mutation in the name of a dummy person, Binod Singh. After mutation, this property was sold to Shyam Singh and Ravi Singh Bhatia and Jamabandi was registered in their name only. The purchase and sale of this land were shown in the paper for Rs 15.10 crores, whereas the actual value of this plot is 29 crores. Binod Singh’s claim was rejected by CO and LRDC in the year 2021. But Chhavi Ranjan misused his position and allowed the name change in the name of Binod Singh. The previous jamabandi of this land was also cancelled by Chhavi Ranjan, which was in the name of the Sahu family. The District Magistrate had issued instructions to the police to erect a boundary wall at the said site for the convenience of these persons.
