New Delhi, Jan 17: At least eight people were injured after they were shot at a Martin Luther King Day event at Fort Pierce in Florida on Monday evening. All eight injured were taken to a hospital, where one person is in critical condition.
Four others, including a child, also suffered injuries as people fled from the gunshots.
The above information was confirmed by St. Lucie County Sheriff`s office while there was no information about the fatalities in the incident.
More than a thousand people had gathered at a block party at Ilous Ellis Park in Fort Pierce that featured live music, activities for children, local car shows and other such events.

The local officials said that shots were fired over a dispute between the two groups of people. However, it is not yet clear if a suspect has been identified or taken into custody. Footage from the scene has been posted online showing attendees hiding behind the vehicles and running after hearing possible gunshots.
Further investigation is underway to analyze the crime scene and trace multiple leads from witnesses and community members.
