New Delhi: The suspense over Maharashtra’s next government continues as Eknath Shinde, the outgoing Chief Minister, headed to his village in Satara amidst crucial BJP-led Mahayuti discussions. While his sudden departure raised speculation about dissatisfaction, Shiv Sena leaders denied any rift.
Key Developments:
1.Meetings Cancelled: A Mahayuti alliance meeting in Mumbai and a Shiv Sena meeting led by Eknath Shinde were reportedly cancelled, sparking rumors of unrest.
2.Shinde Visits Satara: Eknath Shinde left for his village in Satara, with Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant clarifying that it was a pre-planned visit and not linked to political dissatisfaction.
3.Fadnavis as CM: BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is poised to become Chief Minister for the third time after leading his party to a record win.
4.Deputy CM Role Questioned: While the current formula of one Chief Minister with two deputies is expected to continue, Shinde is reportedly reluctant to take up the Deputy CM role.
5.Shiv Sena Stance: Shiv Sena leaders emphasized their desire for Shinde to remain part of the new government. Uday Samant stated, “Shinde’s nobility in leaving decisions to the BJP is appreciated, but we want him to be a part of the Maharashtra government.”
