Jamshedpur, July 3: An elderly couple was found lying murdered at their residential premises in a village under Keraikela thana area in West Singhbhum district about 100 km away from here on Monday morning.

Identified as Sakari Diggi (65) and his wife Badhgi Diggi (60) were murdered in their sleep on the intervening night of Monday.

The gruesome incident took place at Koljomko village in the Chakradharpur sub-division, leaving the police to get in a fix about the reason behind the murders.

OC, Keraikela Thana, Deepak Kreation said unknown assailants have killed the couple by using agriculture equipment, but the reason behind the murders is yet to be established.

“The Munda of the village informed us about the incident after fellow villagers had seen the bodies lying in residential premises where they were sleeping due to the excessive temperature.  Initially, we suspected it to be a witch-hunting case but nothing of the sort came out following enquiries from the villagers,” said Deepak while talking to lagatar24.com.

The OC pointed out that as there was no one else in the murder-victims family, the murders might have been conspired related to the victims’ landed property, adding that investigation is on.
