Ranchi, March 18: Elderly wife of a retired bank employee was stabbed to death in the posh locality of Jharkhand capital, Ashok Nagar, under Argora police station area.
The incident took place in the afternoon when the lady, Malambika Sinha (70), was alone.
Sources close to the lady informed this saying killer was known to the lady as before she was killed she offered the killer flattened rice and gud.
“After having Chura and Gud one of the three youths asked the lady to hand over the keys of lockers and almirah. When she refused they slit her throat and stabbed her stomach,” a person close to the family said, requesting anonymity.
S.P.(city) Saurav Kumar confirmed the incident saying ‘the incident took place around 1 pm.’
Officer-in-charge of the Argora police station Vinod Kumar said the investigation is going on with the help of CCTV footage collected from the locality.
Asked further he said: “It will be difficult to give any conclusive statement as the matter is under investigation.”
Asked about the husband, OC Kumar said: “Her husband Vijay Sinha is a retired zonal manager of State Bank of India. He had gone somewhere in the neighbourhood when the incident took place. “
Asked who showed the lady lying in a pool of blood, OC Kumar said: “Maidservant was the first to see the lady lying in the pool of blood.”
Sources close to the family said: “The lady was the mother of three grown sons and a daughter. All are well settled outside the state and abroad.”
“As one of the sons received the information, he informed about the incident to one of his friends in Ranchi but before he could reach she had already been declared brought dead and the autopsy was completed,” a person close to the family said.
