Election for eight wards of Ramgarh Cantonment Board to be held on April 30

Ramgarh, Feb 19: For the people of Ramgarh, the wait for the long-awaited Cantonment Board Ramgarh election is over. The Ministry of Defense issued a notification for the elections to the Cantonment Boards on February 17. The gazette notification has been issued by Joint Secretary Rakesh Mittal. According to the notification, elections will be held on April 30 in 57 cantonments across the country and the election of the Ramgarh Cantonment Board is to be held on April 30.

It is written in the Gazette that the Central, in the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Cantonments Act, 2006 (41 of 2006), the Government hereby specifies the 30th April, 2023 as such date. However, the information has not yet been uploaded to the official website of the Director General Defense Estate.

Notably, Elections to Cantonment Board Ramgarh and other Cantonment Boards were last held in the year 2015. After the term of the elected board ended in the year 2020, the elected members were given two extensions of six months each. After this ad hoc board was formed. The chairman, CEO and a nominated member were kept on the ad hoc board.

Keerty Gaurav was named as the nominated member. In the extension of the tenure of the nominated member, it was written that till the announcement of the election or for six months. This time the term extension was given to the nominated member till December 2022.

In eight wards of Ramgarh, seats for three general women, three general men, one scheduled caste and one scheduled tribe are reserved. Ward number one, six and eight were reserved for women in the elected board which expired in the year 2021. Whereas ward number two, four and five were male which will become female wards. On the other hand, ward number three was reserved for Scheduled Castes and seven for Scheduled Tribes, which will remain reserved as before.
