New Delhi, March 2: Early trends indicate that the Left-Congress alliance is leading with 16 seats, just three seats ahead of Pradyot Manikya Debbarma’s Tipra Motha, while the ruling BJP-IPFT alliance, which had raced ahead in Tripura, is down to 29 seats.

The BJP has established a commanding lead in Nagaland, where it is allied with the NDPP. According to early trends, the coalition is in the lead in 41 seats while the NPF was in the lead in five seats. According to trends, the BJP is ahead in 7 seats in Meghalaya whereas Conrad Sangma’s NPP is leading in 22 seats. On February 16 and 27, 178 seats in the three states went to the polls for the first round of voting in this year’s key elections.

Elections were held in 59 of Nagaland’s 60 seats, despite the fact that one seat (Akuluto) was won by the Bharatiya Janata Party without any opposition (BJP). The total has decreased from 60 to 59 in Meghalaya as one seat’s election has been annulled.

Tripura, a Left-leaning bastion that the BJP won in 2018, presents a challenging situation for the party. It will also be clear from the results of the elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland whether it has gained more ground there or whether the opposition has managed to lessen its influence.
