Patna, Jan 11: Empty liquor bottles were discovered on Tuesday at the Samastipur Collectorate’s facilities. The recovery took place against the backdrop of a spate of fatalities in the Chhapra district attributed to fake alcohol.
Over 70 people were reportedly killed in the Chhapra fake liquor catastrophe in December of last year.
“I have received information and also saw the pictures. The bottles seem to be very old. Nonetheless, we will conduct an investigation into the recovery of the liquor bottles and take necessary action,” Speaking to ANI, Excise Superintendent Shailendra Kumar Chaudhary said.
Following the alcohol-related deaths last year, Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, promised rigorous action would be done against all those involved after coming under heat from the opposition.
In spite of criticism, Kumar insisted that most people in his state supported the ban stance.
“I have made it clear that strict action will be taken against the accused,” he said after the person was arrested from Dwarka.
