Daltonganj, Feb 3: An encounter broke out between security forces and the squad of the banned Naxal outfit PLFI in Jharkhand’s Chaibasa district today.
Confirming this, SP Chaibasa Ajay Linda said the encounter took place at Temna jungle under the Gudri police station.
The encounter broke out at 6.30 this morning and lasted for about half an hour.
According to sources, the PLFI contingent with whom security forces fought was led by Dinesh Gope. Dinesh Gope is the dreaded head of the PLFI.
SP Linda said, “We had specific intelligence about Gope’s contingent which has less than a dozen cadres well armed to the teeth. Our security contingent had district armed police of Chaibasa and Khunti besides four teams of the CRPF.”
“The encounter took place with one of our four teams. Our boys not only outnumbered the PLFI, but the Naxals were caught by surprise so much that they scurried for lives in the jungles,” SP Linda explained.
A search operation is going on. Security forces have recovered cell phones, blankets, medicines, back bags, sleeping mats and other things from the contingent.
There is no report of any injury or loss on either side so far.
Linda said security forces are zeroing in on Dinesh Gope and his contingent leaving him little space now.
