Daltonganj, June 25: The entrance test and results of the two govt schools of excellence in Daltonganj namely Zila School and the KG Girls High School have been cancelled and the fresh date of the entrance test is July 2.
DEO Anil Kumar Choudhury said, “DC Palamu has directed to set up new examination centres for the July 2 fresh entrance test.”
He said the old admit cards will not do but students are advised to bring their old admit cards or if it is not with them for any reason, like it’s missing or lost then in that event the receipt of the examination form will enable the students to have the new admit cards.
Anil Kumar Choudhury said “We will be distributing the fresh admit cards on June 27, 28 and July 1. There will be static magistrate at the examination centres.”
DEO rued that “I used to be a number one district education officer in the state but here I am plunged into such a situation. We assure this fresh entrance test will be in all sanctity of the examination.”
DDC Palamu Ravi Anand said “This fresh entrance test will have all the arrangements like that of any other examination like centre superintendent, proper room-wise list of invigilators, attendance of students taking the exam, number of absence, flying squads etc.
Ravi Anand said we would prefer such government schools where are CCTV cameras fitted. He said we hope invigilators will be discharging their examination duties in all earnestness.
Palamu DC Anjaneyulu Dodde took the decision to cancel the entrance test and its subsequent result in the wake of the probe conducted by Palamu DDC Ravi Anand who found ample pieces of evidence of tampering with the answer sheets of the students, fudging of the marks, unjustified inflatory marks, interpolations to the answer sheets besides improper adherence to the reservation roster.
Sources said the Palamu DC has thus sent out a strong and loud message to the teachers cum examiners and officials of the district education office to refrain from committing any exam malpractices as consequences of it will severely and adversely affect their career.
Palamu DDC Ravi Anand told this correspondent, “When I was probing this case I found no end to the exam malpractice which was rampant and outrageously defiling the sanctity of the entrance test.”
For the Zila School, the entrance test is for classes 6 to 11 minus 10 for a total seat of 720. Similarly, for the KG Girls High School, the test is for classes 6 to 9 only for 240 seats.
All eyes are on what actions the administration is going to take as the cancellation of the entrance test and its subsequent result has brought disrepute to the system of secondary education here.
Since there is an Exam Act, there are provisions for taming and containing errant and dubious teachers like withholding their increment or increments, debarring them from all exam-related works like invigilation, question setting, examinership for a minimum period of two sessions and where the criminal intent of the teachers is obvious there is a provision of lodging of the criminal case under the suitable sections of the IPC against the concerned teacher.
