Mumbai, March 1: According to HBO, the American teen drama ‘Euphoria’ is now the premium TV channel’s second-most-watched show since 2004, after only ‘Game of Thrones.’
With its Season 2 finale episode on Sunday, the Zendaya-led drama set a new series high with 6.6 million viewers.
‘Euphoria’ Season 2 episodes are now averaging 16.3 million viewers, according to HBO, the best performance for any season of an HBO series other than ‘Game of Thrones’ in the last 18 years.
According to Variety.com, the Season 2 premiere has surpassed 19 million viewers in the United States.
For the seventh week in a row, ‘Euphoria’ was the top title on HBO Max in the United States, as well as the top series in Latin America and Europe.
‘Euphoria’s’ per-episode-viewership average was already nearly 100 percent higher than its first season after just four episodes of the second season, as ‘Variety’ exclusively reported on February 1.
When it aired against Super Bowl LVI on February 13, the show set a new series high.
With 34 million tweets, ‘Euphoria’ has become the most-tweeted show of the decade in the United States.
Season 2 of ‘Euphoria’ follows the intertwined lives of high school students in East Highland, where 17-year-old Rue (Zendaya) must balance the strains of love, loss, and addiction. Many of the season’s main tensions came to a climax in the finale episode, with more than one of them ending in violence.
