Dhanbad July 25: Two times former Jharia MLA of  BJP Sanjiv Singh today filed a petition in the court seeking euthanasia to get free from the pain and mental agony of illness.
Ailing  Sanjiv Singh’s lawyer Md Javed confirmed this to media persons saying that the former MLA has filed this petition today (Tuesday) in  the court of District and Sessions Judge.

Former Jharia MLA ( 2009, 2014) Sanjiv Singh has been in Dhanbad jail since  April 2017  in connection with the murder case of his cousin who was former deputy mayor Neeraj Singh ( husband of present Jharia MLA Purnima Singh).

At present, Sanjiv Singh is under treatment at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) Dhanbad since July 7, 2023, after he fell down in the washroom of the Dhanbad jail. The Medical Board referred him for treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) Ranchi but Sanjiv Singh and his wife (BJP state executive member) Ragni Singh refused to go there fearing danger to his life.

The family of ailing Sanjiv Singh had demanded treatment at a hospital of Dhanbad or other super specialty hospital at their own cost.

“If the court can’t send me out for better treatment at a super specialty hospital then give me permission for Euthanasia,” said Sanjiv Singh in his petition to the court.
In the petition, it has been said that the petitioner is suffering hopelessly and unbearably willing to help the other in need of an organ as such he may be permitted to fulfil the requirement to donate his organs after Euthanasia.

“Under the aforesaid truthful facts and circumstances it is most humbly prayed that your honour may graciously be pleased to allow the prayer of voluntary euthanasia”,(Ichcha Maratyu),” the petition said.
