Ranchi, Dec.23: A day after the HEC management requested Governor Ramesh Bais to help get permission from the union government to sell 200 acres of 1000 acres surplus land to end financial crisis of the mother of industry, former union minister Subodh Kant Sahay accompanied by Khijri MLA Rajesh Kacchap today hit the road to save the iconic industry of the state.
It was getting around 11.30am when both the leaders having affiliation to the Congress party were noticed leading a procession of over 2000 workers in front of HEC headquarters close to the power centre of Jharkhand, Project Building secretariat.
The leaders addressed the workers and expressed their commitment to save the industries at any cost and ensure release of wages of workers due for more than seven months.
A labour, who participated in the procession led by Sahay and Kacchap, informed this sharing video of the procession saying it was for the first time such a big procession was organised with an intention to save the industry.
Khijri MLA Kachhap had earlier raised the issue of HEC in the assembly on Wednesday saying, on the one hand, Smart City is being developed on the land which was acquired for HEC while at the other hand HEC workers are being deprived of their salary for the last seven months.
His statement came when he had called attention of the house towards the loot of tribal land and asked the state government whether it has any plan to constitute a special committee to stop plunder of the tribal land. He was of the opinion that it was wrong to sell surplus land in the possession of HEC.
