Raghuram Rajan has frequently expressed worries about the economic and social policies of the Modi government, arguing that doing so will help India prosper economically and secure its future.
Rajan, a vociferous opponent of policies like demonetisation, has accused the Modi administration of having a ‘political and social agenda for the economic slowdown,’ drawing severe rebukes from the BJP.
Raghuram Rajan’s participation in the Bharat Jodo Yatra is therefore not entirely unexpected given that the Congress has been attempting to recruit eminent ‘like-minded’ individuals from a variety of backgrounds to attend the Bharat Jodo Yatra, whose stated objective is to ‘unite the country.’

However, the grand old party primarily hopes to use this extensive mass-contact programme to address its existential crisis, which was brought on by the resignations of important leaders (the most recent of which was Ghulam Nabi Azad), dissension, internal strife (Rajasthan is a prime example), and a string of electoral defeats.
In Rajasthan, the Bharat Jodo Yatra entered its tenth day on Wednesday. The yatra was resumed from Bhadoti village, which is part of the Bamanwas Vidhan Sabha seat. 25 kilometres will be covered by the Yatra today.
