Hazaribagh: Two labourers, Ranjit Thakur and Sukhdev Sahu, died in an explosion in the aluminum factory at Sirsi Damodih village under the Katkamdag police station of Hazaribagh. The explosion was so terrible that the roof and walls of the factory were damaged. Its sound was heard up to two kilometers away.
It was learnt that the factory belongs to Awadh Kumar Gupta, a resident of Hazaribagh Sardar Chowk. He makes new utensils by melting aluminium. It is then sold in the market. Due to bad weather, only two labourers were working here. If more labourers had been working, an even bigger incident could have happened.
The factory should be removed from crowded area: Ward Councilor
Ward-23 councilor Badshah Ram said that many labourers from Damodih and Sirsi villages work in this factory. Even on Friday morning the factory opened and the workers started working. A sudden explosion occurred while working. The operator says that this incident happened due to lightning. But looking at the situation, it seems that a terrible explosion might have taken place during the smelting of aluminium here. He has demanded a high-level investigation into this entire matter. It has also been demanded that the factory should be removed from the crowded area, so that such incidents do not recur.
Meanwhile, after receiving the information, DSP (headquarters) Rajiv Kumar also reached the spot and took detailed information about the incident. They have officially confirmed that two people have died in this incident. He also talked about investigating the reason behind the incident. He said that it would not be appropriate to comment on this immediately. Accurate information can be given only after investigation, he added. Both the bodies have been sent to Hazaribagh Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
