At the NC delegate session held here at Naseem Bagh, next to the mausoleum of party founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the 85-year-old leader was unanimously chosen as the party’s head.
The day was also Sheikh Abdullah’s 117th birthday anniversary.
As of the deadline for filing nominations, only Abdullah’s nomination had been received, according to NC general secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar.
According to Sagar, Farooq Abdullah has received a total of 183 proposals from Kashmir, 396 proposals from Jammu, and 25 proposals from Ladakh.
Due to his health, the senior leader had just stated a wish to resign from the position. The next president would be chosen at the party’s delegate meeting, according to the party, which subsequently launched the presidential election process.
It claimed that the party’s internal elections were already over. Five years ago, North Carolina held its most recent presidential election.
