Dhanbad, July 15: The Fertilizer Corporation of India VSS Employees Association has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the regular appointment of a Managing Director (MD) at the Hindustan Urvarak and Rashayan Limited (HURL) Sindri so that his ambitious project can start without further delay.
The association in its letter to the PM has pointed out, “In last four years, five Group General Manager (GGM) of HURL Sindri have been changed and the 6th caretaker GGM Dipten Roy has assumed charge now, as a result of which, your (PM’s) project has been delayed so far for 14 months and it is still not sure when the factory will start the production.”

HURL has come up in the place of FCI Sindri. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of HURL Sindri along with Gorakhpur and Barauni units on May 25, 2018.
The ambitious project of the Jharkhand unit was scheduled to start in three years (by May 2021). However, till July 2022, the beginning of production is uncertain. The local management claims that 99% of construction work has been completed.
“Five GGMs have been changed in four years. 6th GGM Dipten Roy has assumed office. The workers and officers of HURL Sindri do not know how long he would be allowed to function. Frequent change of GGM without any reason has heavily impacted the working culture in this project. Since it is an ambitious dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jharkhand, we have urged him to interfere immediately so that it can start without further delay,” said Sewa Singh, the president of FCI VSS Employees Association.
Since the assets of the closed FCI Sindri factory have been given to HURL, the fate of FCI VSS employees is also attached to it.
“Whenever a GGM tries to set the project to start the production, he is transferred from Sindri. So far, not a single GGM has completed one year here,” Sewa Singh added.
