Ranchi, June 29: Security of buses parked at Birsa Munda Bus Stand in Khadgarha came under the scanner after a fire engulfed four buses parked at the bus stand in the broad day light.
The incident took place in the afternoon when several buses were parked at the bus stand and passengers in good numbers were present. People raised an alarm after they noticed buses burning. The Jharkhand police team turned up at the spot without wasting time. Information was sent to the fire station and two fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the fire.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Lower Bazar police station Dayanand Kumar confirmed the incident saying the reason behind the fire is being ascertained.
“There is no loss of life in the incident. Out of the four buses burnt, three were not operational for a long time, lying idle in the bus stand,” OC Kumar said.
This is not the first-time a fire engulfed buses parked in the stand. Last year on the occasion of Diwali, a driver and Khalasi were charred to death when buses burnt.
