Dhanbad, Sept 14: Five recognized national trade unions, including BJP’s labour wing Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) have served a three-day strike (October 5 to 7) notice to Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Kothagudem if September month salary payment of non-executive is not paid timely in October as per NCW-11 agreement.
All the five national trade unions in the notice served to the CIL chairman and the SCCL chairman cum managing director have said that it is being said that September salary payment of non-executive miners/staff in CIL and SCCL would be paid on the basis of the NCW-10 agreement while the agreement on NCW -11 has already been signed between the management and national trade unions in May.
“ So, despite the agreement on NCW-11, September salary payment to non-executives is paid on NCW-10 agreement, all miners (2.60 lakh) of CIL headquarters, its subsidiary companies and SCCL would be on strike for three days,” said the notice by the national trade unions.
K Laxma Reddy, Majrul Huque Ansari ( BMS), Kumar Jayamangal Singh, AK Jha (INTUC), Nathula Pandey, RB Raghvan (HMS) Ramendra Kumar, Ashok Yadav (AITUC), DD Ramanandan, RP Singh ( CITU) have signed on the strike notice.
Senior vice-president of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress) AK Jha said that the NCW-11 agreement was signed on May 20, 2023, and the salary payment for July and August was paid to miners as per the agreement in August/September. But now it is said the management would pay the September salary to non-executive workers on the basis of the NCW-10 agreement again. National trade unions can’t accept it at any cost. So, a three-day strike notice has been served to CIL and SCCL management.
BMS, the BJP-affiliated labour union had not participated in the two-day strike in Coal India Limited called by the four national trade unions on March 28-29. But this time on the payment issue BMS has supported the strike.
