Ranchi, Jan.6: Non-use of state-run food testing laboratory at Namkum for last six months attracted the attention of Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) and its president Mukul Taneja today started correspondence with the health department to make it operational.
Taneja in his letter to the health secretary has pointed out that the test report of the state laboratory is not useful for legal purposes and in that situation the government has to send it to Kolkata. He said that bringing a report from Kolkata is not only time taking but cost consuming also and the situation has created problems for businessmen.
Underlining its importance, president Taneja through his letter urged the department to start the process of getting accreditation from National Accreditation Board of Laboratory with due coordination with the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI).
