Dhanbad, May 20: Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University (BBMKU) Dhanbad vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Mukul Narayan Dev on Friday called upon the teachers to focus on imparting quality teaching to students and on research work.

Vice Chancellor, who was addressing as chief guest the greetings function for newly appointed assistant professors of the university, organized by BBMKU Teachers Association at SSLNT Women’s College auditorium today in the afternoon, said that teachers command high respect in society and it is their responsibility to provide the right guidance to students.

“Colleges in the university were facing massive scarcity of teachers. The study of students too was affected badly by a shortage of teachers. But now with the arrival of newly appointed faculty members, the regular classes would be held in colleges,” said the VC.

Dr Mukul Narayan Dev, the scientist of Babha Atomic Research Centre Mumbai, is the regular vice-chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh and has been given additional charge of BBMKU.

The VC said though all colleges across the state are facing a teacher crisis, he would continue to enrol more teachers in colleges of BBMKU in future too.

BBMKU TA president Dr RK Tiwari said that it is a historical day for the teachers’ body of the university as a crisis of faculty members has been sorted out to some extent. He said credit goes to V-C as teachers in such large numbers have been appointed in colleges.

Dr Tiwary welcome the newly appointed teachers and said the teachers’ body has strengthened from their arrival. He suggested them to maintain a high tradition that teachers of BBMKU have set up in a very short period.

BBMKU TA general secretary Dr Himanshu Shekhar Choudhary highly praised the efforts of V-C and said that whatever problem of teachers is brought into his  ( VC) cognizance, is solved immediately. “I am a representative of teachers and would remain the same”, said Dr Choudhary.

He called upon the newly appointed teachers to become role models for students and try to remain in future.

BBMKU PG Teachers Association president Prof Seema Sinha,  and secretary Prof LB  Palibal also addressed newly appointed teachers at the function.

Dr Mukul Ravi Das conducted the function. Besides principals of constituent colleges,  senior teachers Dr Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Dr DK Giri, Dr RP Singh, Dr Shailendra Sinha, Dr Amulya Kumar Dey and Dr Jitendra Aryan, the spoke person of BBMKUTA were also present.
