Ranchi: With dense fog reducing visibility on roads across Jharkhand, Transport Minister Deepak Birua has appealed to citizens to remain alert and strictly follow traffic safety norms to prevent accidents.

Slow Down and Maintain Safe Distance

The minister advised drivers to reduce speed during foggy conditions and maintain adequate distance from vehicles ahead to avoid sudden collisions.

Use Proper Lighting and Avoid High Beam

He urged motorists to use low-beam headlights and fog lights, warning that high-beam lights can reflect off fog and further reduce visibility.

Avoid Overtaking and Use Horn Carefully

Birua cautioned that overtaking in fog can be extremely dangerous and should be avoided. He also recommended using the horn gently when necessary, especially at turns and blind spots.

Stop Safely If Visibility Drops to Zero

If visibility becomes extremely poor, drivers were advised to pull over safely to the side of the road and switch on parking lights to remain visible to others.

Ensure Clear Windshield and Visibility

The minister emphasized keeping windshields clean and using defoggers to maintain clear vision while driving in foggy weather.
