Jamshedpur, Sept 2: Two Naxals were killed in an encounter between paramilitary forces and outlawed CPI-Maoist squad in a jungle under the Kuchai police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 60 km away from here early this morning.
Apart from gunning down the Naxals, the police and paramilitary forces seized several firearms and ammunition from the encounter spot.
The encounter has taken place in the Koya jungle along Baruda-Sorubera road under the Kuchal that’s Dalbhanga Outpost area at about 4.30 am today.
The police have recovered two bodies which are yet to be identified except that the slain Naxals were the members of Analda’s squad of the CPI-Maoist.
Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police, Anand Prakash confirmed about the two Naxals being killed in the encounter in a jungle in Kuchai.
“We had an intelligence input that Analda’s squad was active in Kuchai. On the basis of the information, we had started a special operation by the CRPF and its CoBRA battalions. Finally, the rebel squad was spotted in the Koya jungle, but soon afterwards the paramilitary forces were rained with bullets by the rebel squad leading the paramilitary forces to retaliate resulting in the death of Naxalsxals,” said Anand Prakash while talking to lagatar24.com.
The superintendent of police who rushed to the encounter site having got the information pointed out that more Naxals were suspected to have been injured in the firepower by the paramilitary forces.
“The encounter lasted for over an hour, but given the firepower of the paramilitary forces, the rebel squad had retreated. During the post-encounter search operation, two bullet-ridden bodies of the Naxals were found in the jungle,” narrated the senior police officer.
Anand Prakash informed that presently, the police and paramilitary forces are conducting a combing operation in the entire Kuchai area which is considered to be a Naxal stronghold area.
