CONRAD DIAS

Ranchi, June 21: Forest division Gumla has installed 15 solar lights in Chatamdag village as a part of the entry point activity and reforestation drive which is being conducted in Gumla by the Forests, Environment and Climate Change Department.

The divisional forest officer of Ranchi, Srikant Verma, has informed that the Chatamdag village is remotely located in the Ghaghra block of the Gumla district. It has a population of 500 people. The area is located in a mining-affected zone.

It has been seen that the Forest Department’s fund has been seldom used for the benefit of the public in Jharkhand as shown in the CAG report. The forest department has taken a keen interest in providing knowledge to people about reforestation through these drives.

Apart from the solar lights, the forest division Gumla has also installed Jal minars in Baer village along with hand pumps. The villagers have provided positive feedback regarding the facilities provided by the forest division.

The DFO added that the forest division while doing the reforestation drive also tends to do the soil moisture configuration work so that the conserved water after the rainy season also benefits the village population.
