Ranchi, Jan. 5: Former chief minister and leader of BJP legislature party Babulal Marandi expressed his concern over the birth of a an baby in ambulance trapped in a jam at Kanta Toli Chowk and then delay in her hospitalization at Sadar Hospital on Tuesday.
“The incident narrates the poor traffic system and mismanagement of Sadar Hospital,” Marandi tweeted.
He said that the incident exposed the hollowness of the government’s claim.
“The Government may beat drums claiming big achievement but the truth finally prevails,” Marandi said.
Alka Kujur, a resident of Tatisilwai, was on way to RIMS from ESIC Hospital, Namkum after labour pain. She had got stuck in jam and delivered a baby in the ambulance.
When the ambulance driver sensing the gravity of the situation diverted the ambulance to Sadar Hospital for immediate care, it took the hospital management not less than 20 minutes to admit the mother and newborn baby for proper treatment.
A traffic personnel said all this happened due to poor management of traffic lights.
“It takes at least three minutes at Kanta Toli Chowk to change the signal and most of the time vehicles get stuck in a jam. If an SP for traffic had been present in the city, such a situation could have been avoided,” the traffic personnel said.
