Ranchi, April 12: Former minister Bandhu Tirkey cried foul on repeated CBI inquiries into the 34th National Games saying it is an attempt to tarnish his image and gag the voice of a person fighting for the rights of tribals, backwards and minorities.
Tirkey said the CBI had already probed the allegation against him after registering a case RC5 (A)/2010 and failed to find any evidence of having 100 acres of land and a flat worth Rs 8 crore at Vasant Kunj in Delhi against him.
After the apex agency did not get any evidence it submitted the closure report observing that ‘the allegations regarding the favours given by Bandhu Tirkey to the construction companies could not be proved’. But despite all these, a CBI probe has been ordered and thus the possibility of a conspiracy against him cannot be ruled out, he added.
Tirkey said the CBI also clarified that all the decisions in the organisation of national games were taken before he became a minister.
Tirkey, however, said he is not afraid of a probe and has full faith in the judicial system. He said he will knock on the door of ST SC police station against those who filed theb PIL targeting him.
