Jamshedpur, Sept 28: Mutilated body of a 32-year-old man was found lying in a field at Kudarsai village under Seraikela thana area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 35 kms away from here on Tuesday morning.

The body was identified as that of Ashish Tiu, a resident of Kudarsai and son of a retired police man.

A father of three children, the victim was suspected to have been shot before being bludgeoned to death by a group of assailants in the field which is about 300 metres away from the road.

The police have recovered the body and shifted it to the Seraikela Sadar Hospital mortuary for postmortem.

Police suspect the victim to have been shot before being bludgeoned to death because they found an empty cartridge from a little distance away from the spot where the body was found.

“There are several marks of deep wounds on the victim’s body, most of them caused by boulders. Gun-shot mark on the body is not distinct. But the finding of an empty cartridge close to the murder scene suggests the victim might have been shot also, something which can be clear in the autopsy only, ” said Manohar Kumar, OC, Seraikela thana.

The victim’s motorcycle was found at a little further distance from the spot where the empty cartridge was found.

The OC said though Ashish was a resident of Kudarsai village, he would stay at a rented house at Sonadih village in the adjoining Pathanmara village where he would earn his living by operating his tractor.

The victim’s sister Sukmati Bansingh who resides at Sonadih has given a statement in which she said that her brother had a clash with a Kudarsai resident, Mahendra Raotiya on Monday morning over business rivalry.

A police team had raided the houses of the suspects, including that of Raotiya, but they are all absconding.
