Ranchi, Oct.14: Former Ranchi SSP Surendra Kumar Jha, who was removed from his post after an incident of police firing on violent procession on the Main Road of the state capital on June 10 this year to protest against suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed, has been appointed as superintendent of police of Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS).
The home department notified his appointment on October 13. With this development, 2010 batch IPS officer Jha, who was waiting for posting for more than four months in an IPS deficit state, has got some work to do.

Other than Jha, 2007 batch IPS Sunil Bhaskar, who was also waiting for posting, has been appointed as DIG, Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP).
Similarly, 2010 batch IPS officer Dhananjay Kumar Singh has been appointed as the commandant of women dominated battalion of Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP-10). 2010 batch IPS Sandhya Rani Mehta who was commandant of JAP-10 has been transferred to the post of SP, CID.
