Four die in wall collapse in Noida, several feared trapped

Noida, Sept 20: An under-construction wall collapsed in Noida Sector-21 on Tuesday morning, killing at least four workers. Several others are feared trapped under the debris.

The incident took place near Jalvayu Vihar in Noida Sector-21. Rescue operation are being carried out by the police and locals. In order to aid in the rescue efforts, JCB equipment and fire tenders were also called in.

“Noida Authority had given contract for drainage repair work near Jal Vayu Vihar in Sec 21. We’ve been told when labourers were pulling out bricks, wall collapsed. It’ll be probed. Received info of 2 deaths each(total 4)at Dist Hospital and Kailash Hospital; being verified,” said Noida DM.

“Rescue operation is underway. Details of the injured people are being ascertained. The area is being searched as a precautionary measure. All teams are present here,” he added.
