One case each was reported from Sonari and Telco while Mango reported two cases.

The tests included Rapid Antigen Test ( RAT ), RT-PCR and Trunet. Health department sources said six people recovered yesterday.

Meanwhile, the district health department has activated all the checkpoints to prevent the spread of the disease.

Covid tests- both RAT and RT- PCR have been intensified at the Tatanagar railway station and Sitaramdera Bus terminus.

Speaking about the preparedness to tackle the scary Omicron variant of the Covid, a health department official pointed out the administration is following the protocol of the Central government and is keeping a tab on foreigners and those returning from foreign countries especially identified as “at-risk” countries.

Notably, the state health department had earlier directed deputy commissioners of the 24 districts to strictly screen all passengers coming from overseas for Covid-19 new variant Omicron.

The health department had also sent a line-list of overseas passengers with travel history in the last 14 days and who have come to different districts of Jharkhand to the concerned deputy commissioners of the districts for tracking and testing of such passengers.
