Jamshedpur, Feb 11: Four persons of a family were killed and two others got injured as the car they were travelling in was rammed into a stationary container at Chandil on NH-33 in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district about 25 kms away from here in the early morning on Friday.
Those killed include two middle-aged women and a 14-year-old girl. A 45-year-old man who was in the driving seat of the car was also killed.
The injured were first taken to MGM medical college hospital and later shifted to Tata Main Hospital where their condition is said to be serious.
The mishap took place along Nargadih village about 200 meters away from the Chandil roundabout at about 4 am.
According to sources, the victims were coming to Hazaribagh to Jamshedpur to attend a “Griha Pravesh” ceremony here on Friday.
OC, Chandil thana, SS Das said the stationary container the car rammed into had a breakdown and was on the roadside.
“The mishap might have taken place after the driver of the car must have lost control over the vehicle while riding at a breakneck speed. As a result of the accident, two persons including the man were killed on the spot and four others injured, ” said Das.
The OC said all the four injured were rescued by police with the help of residents and rushed to MGM medical college hospital where two more injured, including a minor girl, succumbed to their injuries. He said the remaining two injured, both males in the age group of early twenty were shifted to the Tata Main Hospital for better treatment.
According to the police, the identity of the mishap victims could not be ascertained as the two surviving injured are not in a condition to speak.
“The identity of the mishap victims will be known after the two surviving injured return to their senses or any relative of them turns up at the hospital, ” said the police officer, adding that they have seized the vehicles from the scene of the mishap.
