New Delhi, July 15: The 75-day ‘COVID Vaccination Amrit Mahotsava’ started on Friday intending to increase the uptake of the prophylactic dosage of the COVID vaccine among the eligible adult population, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The special vaccination campaign, which is a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav festival, seeks to give free preventive shots to all individuals (18 years and older) who are eligible at Government COVID Vaccination Centers (CVCs).
According to data published on Friday by the Union Health Ministry, India experienced a one-day surge of 20,038 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of cases to 4,37,10,027 while the number of active cases of the disease jumped to 1,39,073.
The data updated at 8 am showed that the death toll from the sickness has increased to 5,25,604 with 47 new fatalities being reported.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.48%, and active cases now make up 0.32 percent of all infections, according to the health ministry.
The data showed that in the past 24 hours, there has been an increase of 2,997 cases in the country’s active COVID-19 caseload.
